The title of Cat Stevens's sixth Island Records album traces back to a single moment on a flight,sitting with a small Buddha statue in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other, he later said: "I suddenly realized that was all I had. Whether I died or not, it would just be the Buddha and the chocolate box." That tension between spiritual searching and material life runs through the record, released in February 1974 and reuniting Stevens with longtime collaborators producer Paul Samwell-Smith and guitarist Alun Davies, whose return steered the sound back toward the warmer, more intimate style of his earlier, best-loved albums.
