made new music since Beastie Boys' 2011 swan song, until he crashed
the stage lastyear at a show by <B>Very Nice Person</B>, the band
led by his own sons Skyler and Davis Diamond, and the whole thing
went viral. That set off a run of surprise gigs in coffee shops and clubs
with his sons backing him as <B>5D</B>, and eventuallythis: his
debut solo album, recorded at home with the same crew, glitchy,
drum-and-bass-heavy, of sonically inventive post-electronic grooves
and hypnotic hooks that find Mike D's unmistakable voice leading the
listener through an aural playground. Lead single "True Colors" was
inspired by Lee "Scratch" Perry; "Switch Up" and "What We Got" both
