MARVIN GAYE What's Going On (40th Anniversary Super Deluxe 2011 US remastered edition of the classic 1971 9-track album spread across 1 Vinyl LP & 2 CDs, featuring the original 'Detroit Mix' of the record [previously issued on CD for the 30th anniversary] on vinyl for the first time, expanded with 28 bonus recordings across the CDs including 16 previously unreleased tracks. Features original mono versions of the LP's hit singles, the single version of a sequel to the album 'You're TheMan' [& two alternate versions], a previously unreleased 'Quality Control' test mix of What's Going On, mixed before Marvin had added strings, horns & additional vocals, as well as several pre-album outtakes recorded while Marvin was 'on strike' waiting for his single to be released [including 'Head Title' now in unedited form for the first time], several post-album instrumental jams with local musicians who included Ray Parker Jr. & a series of recordings made in Detroit before Marvin followed Motown to Los Angeles. Comes housed in a deluxe gatefold pocket picture sleeve with extra thick card dividers, complete with lyrics inside, rare photos, a large gatefold booklet containing new essays & much more. The packaging is Excellent with just a natural crease on the spine, the vinyl is Excellent with few signs of play & rest of the contents are Near Mint B0015552-02)
