Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland - Original Italian 2-LP vinyl record set (Double LP Album)

Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
Electric Ladyland was Hendrix's attempt to stretch and experiment in the studio, and to go beyond the power trio format on what would be his last studio album with the Experience. The album was revolutionary in its scope and execution. Recorded mainly at New York City's Record Plant, he used the studio as a gateway to free expression, Hendrix traversed an abstract landscape containing compositions as weird and wonderful as "...And The Gods Made Love" and "1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)."
Simultaneously looking forwards and backwards, Hendrix liberally mixed in songs reminiscent of his time on the chitlin' circuit covering Earl King's "Come On", a Bob Dylan favourite "All Along The Watchtower" and one of his snappiest singles "Crosstown Traffic". Although Hendrix produced and wrote most of this masterpiece, others weighed in with their own contributions. Noel Redding penned "Little Miss Strange," and other guests such as Al Kooper and Buddy Miles showed up to play. Steve Winwood and Jack Casady also made cameos, appearing on the album's spiritual center, "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)."
Condition The labels are red Polydor in design with some marks evident around the spindle hole indicating that the LP has been played, though not excessively.
The vinyl, like most Italian records is not mint. This album was issued in 1968 making it 37 years old. And like most records of that age a few signs of their years are apparent. Visually the albums show some very light surface marks on all four sides, more due to bad handling and paper bag scuffing than any damage done by stylus scratching but suprisingly these light marks are purely cosmetic as when the stylus was placed on the opening of "And The Gods Made Love" for play grading the intro was near silent as was the dead vinyl between all tracks on all sides, through to "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" Each of the 4 sides play superbly with no annoying background crackle, skips or jumps. The stereo separation is quite apparent and it is clear that the masters used to create the UK Track Records masterpiece was also used here.
The gatefold picture sleeve is laminated front and back. It differs from both the UK 'nude' sleeve and the more conservative US sleeve. When issued in 1968 this design was unique to Italy but the design was later used by the French on one of their 1970's issues. The sleeve is in remarkable condition with crisp, clean laminate, undamaged edges, beautiful vivid colours and unworn spine with clearly legible print.
A rare opportunity to own a stunning original foreign pressing!
