Dick Swings...
	Having just been lucky enough to recently stumble upon, almost by accident, a copy of Pharoah Sanders' 'Save Our Children' album on vinyl (which appears to be exclusive to the French promo), I got intrigued when I saw the 'produced by Bill Laswell' credit & saw that it also contained two of the finest percussionists of our time, Zakir Hussain & Trilok Gurtu. This just has to be listened to, I thought. Needless to say, a mere 48 hours later I owned a copy personally. An amazing album with some wonderfully melodic Sax lines over a lot more relaxed rhythm section than the credits would lead you to believe. A real treasure that I'm very glad to have discovered. At times the melody lines seem to float across you like an Eagle soaring on thermals over a mountain valley. I will be exploring the Pharoah Sanders back catalogue with gusto now as & if I can get my hands on them. Strange, isn't it ? After a lifetime of listening to as much music as I can, so far Pharoah Sanders had dropped under the radar & what a mistake that was ! The good side is that I now have a great deal of new input to discover. I was aware of his work with John Coltrane, but had somehow never listened to any of his solo LPs. If you like melodic playing, check him out.
