Saul Watson - Product Promotion UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 14th Sep '06 11:42 (GMT) Edited Fri 15th Sep '06 13:33 (GMT)On This Day... ...back in 1995, 28 years after if was written. Paul Mccartney's hand written lyrics to The Beatles song ‘Getting Better’ which was of course on Sgt Pepper sold for an astonishing £161,000 at a Sotheby's auction in London. I wonder if in 2033 the lyrics to Coldplay's yawn -fest 'Fix You' will still be remembered let alone worth any money - I for one doubt it very much.[reply to this topic ]
Robin Salazar - South American Office MEXICO Created Thu 14th Sep '06 10:15 (GMT) Edited Fri 15th Sep '06 13:34 (GMT) Edited 2 times Mayhem in Mexico Things are turning much more interesting each day here in Mexico City as we just had presidential elections weeks ago having a shinny-new winner BUT in the much Mexican style the 2nd place candidate says he was the winner and claims fraud and dissapearing votes on his behalf (can this kind of things be happening here ?) .. jeje ....anyway, he made a HUGE camping (you read well) in one of our main streets (aprox 10 kms) with some thousands of dissapointment citizens and now saying that they are not moving anywhere until they repeat the elections ....anyone is invited here to try walking in my shoes and feel in own skin what it means to be in a car for some hours trying to return home in the biggest city in the world with almost 20 million of souls totally stopped because of democracy. Anyone can think that things are not as bad as they seems having a Corona / Tequila shot in hand but unfortunatelly that's also against the law (driving and drinking) so it seems at least for a couple of weeks will be having some fun down here in the jungle....any interesting suggestion on what to do in a heavy traffic drop me a line (robin@eil.com ) ....Needed some little space to express my happiness for leaving in this beautiful city, thanks for reading it !! ....about new arrivals, have some very good news for all Coldplay collectors will be arriving in my next boxes some new Colombian-only interactive x&y cds which are really very nice, and before I forget to mention, also got a couple of Shakira stunning 1993 'Peligro' CBS full color posters so will have to move fast as don't think will be able to get more, these posters were used to promote the album in Colombia in NEW condition, truly a miracle...more from me next week.

Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 13th Sep '06 10:31 (GMT) Edited Wed 13th Sep '06 10:35 (GMT)It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses... Following my visit to see We Will Rock You on Tuesday last week I was lucky enough to catch the final London performance at Ronnie Scotts by one of my other favourite bands - The Blues Brothers Band . Not to be confused with the 1000's of tribute acts around the world, the is the original, from the movie - well some of them anyway. Belushi is long gone and Aykroyd makes the occasional appearance but usually vocals are well handled by others. That night we were treated to the legendary Eddie Floyd who despite being 71 still managed to belt out Knock On Wood and 634-5789 like it was still 1967. The band themselves contained the always overlooked Steve 'The Colonel' Cropper of Booker T & The MG's fame who wrote & co-wrote such classics as Knock On Wood, Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay and In The Midnight Hour alongside 'Blue' Lou Marini and Alan 'Mr Fabulous' Rubin, however that was it as far as original band members go - gone was Duck Dunn and Matt 'Guitar' Murphy and whilst their replacements were more than competent their presence was missed.
Despite this disappointment it was obvious from the first chord of Green Onions that I was in the presence of greatness and that a good time was about to be had by all. The band were slick, the performaces polished and the solos outstanding. The audience were singing along to every song and everyone, the band included seemed to be having the time of their lives. If the band play in your area and you like 60's RnB GO - You'll love it!

Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 13th Sep '06 09:46 (GMT)They Will Rock You... I know I'm a week late as I've had a few days off but I'd just like to say what a great night I had at the special performace of the We Will Rock You musical in London to mark what would've been Freddie Mercurys 60th Birthday. It was celebrated in true Freddie fashion. Ok so there were no dwarves with bowls of cocaine on their head (a myth apparently) and no naked mud wrestlers (definitely not a myth) but lots of singing, dancing and drinking.
The performances of the cast were outstanding and the show had a few little additions to mark the occasion including Mcfly appearing half way through to perform their recent cover version of Don't Stop Me Now, but everyone was waiting for the finale when Brian and Roger would appear through a haze of dry ice and belt out Bohemian Rhapsody & Show Must Go On along with Say It's Not True and an emotional accoustic version of Love Of My Life. No-one wanted the party to end but eventually it did - Like Roger Taylor said 'You Had To Be There'.....

Ok rant over but if Queen are your bag and you preferred it when thay actually wrote new music try this A Kind Of Magic 1986 French 2-track 12" vinyl single which includes A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling housed in a unique picture sleeve depicting Christopher Lambert in the opening garage basement sword fighting scene from the Highlander movie which is incredibly rare Still with A Kind Of Magic we have this A Kind Of Magic Tour Poster made in 1986 and 'Billboard' sized for the gig held on the 14th June 1986 for the French date of the tour. Only a small number were made and displayed around the city with the majority destroyed afterwards but this survived albeit with some creasing and sellotape repairs. Still folded in a condition that could never be described as mint, but it is such a rare piece it can be forgiven. Check out our massive dedicated Queen Collectors Store for oddles and oodles of rarities. [reply to this topic ]
