darkpaw UNITED KINGDOM Created Sat 31st May '08 16:38 (GMT)Review: Superb! I found the Guillemots back in 2005, and have been a massive fan of their work since then. Their first album, "Through The Windowpane" was a journey through the heart. It had a couple of upbeat tracks, but was mainly mellow. "Red", the second album is way more upbeat, which makes this track somewhat of a sheep in wolf's clothing. It isn't out-of-place on Red, and it takes you from the loud sharpness of "Big Dog" to the roaring anthem "Get Over It". It just shows you how adaptive the Guillemots can be. What I find amazing, is that the Guillemots managed to get Sir Ian McKellen to star in the video. The story goes that Sir Ian's nephew saw the band and asked them if they'd like his uncle to be in one of their videos. How can you possibly turn that kind of invitation down?! A few weeks later, Sir Ian has seen the band play live, has agreed to star in the video, and the band turn up to the filming to see Sir Ian on the floor in the rain! "What have we done to this Knight of the British Empire?" The song is wonderful, uplifting and the video is just amazing to watch. 10/10![reply to this topic ]

Missy1984 UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 10th Jul '06 17:02 (GMT)Really REALLY Looking Forward To This! Having now got my copy and listening to it about 4 times already, I can confirm that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. The inclusion of 'Trains To Brazil' & 'Made Up Lovesong #43' from the 'From The Cliffs' mini-album makes me even happier. 'Trains to....' never fails to make me smile and I love 'We're Here' aswell which was the first thing I bought by them but I'm not too sure about the editing of the intro :-( Sao Paulo is a stunning closer and I can't wait to see it live. The title track is also impressive in my opinion!! Well worth the wait!! :-)[reply to this topic ]

Missy1984 UNITED KINGDOM Created Mon 8th May '06 16:21 (GMT)Brilliant!! I finally got this at weekend off the back of 'We're Here' which I bought a while back and loved and this is just as good. Very Arcade Fire in places, very uplifting and jingly. Possibly one of the best albums I've bought this year. Definitely ones to look out for in 2006!![reply to this topic ]
