The Machman East Grinstead, West Sussex UNITED KINGDOM Created Wed 29th Sep '10 10:07 (GMT)Review One of Numan's most overlooked albums, but equally one of his most important! In a career (up until this point) where he was always being compared to Bowie, Numan delivers a curve ball that would alienate some of his fan base in the same way that Bowie did with Young Americans. However, whereas Bowie's departure was in some extent to gain popularity with the American market, Numan's is more in freeing himself from the shackles of commercial expectations & discovering the depths of his imagination. After recently retiring from touring & with three No.1 albums behind him, Dance is an exploration into new territories & styles for the electronic pioneer. Although there are still infinite amounts of technology used to create soundscapes on this work, there is now more emotion & humanity continuing the experiments from the previous Telekon. The result is an electro / jazz / funk hybrid that is less Dance & more chill & concentrate. This is the album that Japan should've made & that Bryan Ferry would sort of make a couple of years later with Boys & Girls. If you're expecting Cars & Are 'Friends' Electric then prepare for disappointment. However, if you like Bowie's Berlin works, the Gentleman Takes Polaroid of Japan & the dreaminess of solo Eno & Avalon Roxy then Dance delivers on every level. This vinyl was in great condition with a minor scuff mark to the outer cover, otherwise excellent condition with some wonderful imagery of arguably the last good Numan fashion statement![reply to this topic ]

pauline & paul doncaster, south yorkshire UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 10th Apr '08 23:14 (GMT)record quality over the years i have bought several items from esprit and i know that what ever i buy it will always be in mint condition although they do charge a premium for that knowlege. if there is something thats especialy rare that i need then they are the last place i try as the prices do tend to put me off, also i was on their so called wanting list for a record last year but then never sent me an email saying that they had my wanted record in stock instead i was brousing their web site and spotted that they had it in only a few months earlier and sold it without me ever knowing about it, i was very very disapointed with them, and this is the first record i have bought from them since and its been about 4 years for that lack of email from them[reply to this topic ]
