I have to make it known up front that I am a huge fan of Cathy Dennis. Her talents and beauty are almost unrivaled in the music business today.
As usual Cathy wows us with her fantastic vocals and talent. It is such a shame that West End Pad didn't get up and into the charts. It's quite a departure from Cathy's past offerings and hits, but you can tell she wanted to explore new areas with this release. The title cut West End Pad comes in several flavors on this release. Smooth and flowing lyrics beg you to roll down your windows and go for a cruise on a sunny day. I would have produced a different video than what was released because it didn't catch the excitement of this song. Crazy Ones heads in yet a totally different direction than anything else on the CD. Very melodic rhythms and an odd combination of instruments has you listening over and over trying to catch everything going on. Oddly enough, this is the songs appeal! Run Like A River and Baggage have a laid back coffee house appeal. Set back, watch the sun come up and sip your coffee as Cathy entertains your morning.
This reviewer would love to see her release this CD with a few more of her songs. I think the timing is right for her to re-appear to her fans as well as a new audience that is searching for real talent in a sea of would be artists and horrible singers. Cathy come back to us!!
