After just three singles, Oasis released their now classic debut album; ‘Definitely Maybe’ in the autumn of 1994 and it went straight to number 1. The set delivered on the band's early promise, conjuring magic from basic rock 'n' roll ingredients. By the time they scored their first number one single with ‘Some Might Say’ they were a headline act. The next album, ‘What's The Story (Morning Glory)’, was a rich and assured record with Noel's Beatle-esque melodies in spectacular form. After suffering couple of personnel changes and less than favourable reactions to the next couple of albums the release of a greatest hits compilation reminded the woirld just how a rock and roll band should sound.
