In 1964 Veejay signed a settlement agreement with Capitol that it would not distribute any more Beatles items after October 15 1964. In summer of that year VeeJay not having any new material to offer fans decided to repackage the existing songs on different albums in different sleeves.
This album sold poorly upon release due to the fact that the same tracks had been released in the same configuration under the title 'Jolly What!' only a few months previously.
Although there are no exact figures as to the number of these albums that were manufactured, it is believed that only 1500 mono and 300 stereo copies were made, many having been destroyed due to poor sales.
What makes this fantastic LP so desireable now is the unique sleeve, featuring a striking portrait of the band, previously used on the Love Me Do single release which was derived from a Dezo Hoffman photograph. It's quite ironic that this album is so sought after by collectors now when VeeJay couldn't give it away in 1964
The condition of the pasted picture sleeve is superb with some very minor edge and corner scuffing. Besides these minor defects the image is fantastic with rich colours and clearly readable spine printing, minimal aging to the white rear of the sleeve. The back of the picture sleeve also features a great spelling mistake in 'It is with a good deal of pride and pleasure that this COPULATION is presented'! The disc is also in EX+ condition with only a couple of minor inaudible surface marks providing any evidence of play - the best copy we've ever seen of this truly rare LP. An investment grade item!
