The acetate has typewritten labels with just 'REPRISE', 'STEPPING STONE' & 'Jimi Hendrix' & the number '50370' written across in black chinagraph pencil. Background :-
There were many sessions for 'Stepping Stone', mostly recorded at Electric Lady in NYC.
The original Band Of Gypsies single version dates from 14/11/69 with a final mix completed by Jimi & the engineer Bob Hughes in February 1970.
The single was released by Reprise, backed with 'Izabella' in June 1970.
This track was re-visited by Jimi & Eddie Kramer in late 1970 with different guitar overdubs & Mitch Mitchell replacing the drum parts. This was the more common version until the release of the original single version on 'Voodoo Child : The Jimi Hendrix Collection'.
This acetate was one of several apparently prepared by Eddie Kramer in late 1970 / early 1971 shortly after Jimi's death.
