Yasuhiko Yashiki - Japanese Office Not Green Amber, Not Meopham JAPAN Created Mon 14th May '07 17:58 (GMT)Golden Weekcoffee and beer specials I have just returned from a distant Japanese city for buying / eating and drinking......and weather in this
term was very confortable (12 -15 degree with no humid). To celebrate Golden week
many shops had a sale so even though I did not find many very rare
items, I picked up a lot of good regular vinyls at fair prices.
One particular shop owner was very friendly and gave me a 2 cup of
black coffee then.....(it's nightmare for me as I don't like coffee)
and then I felt obliged to buy his rare Pink Floyd 7" single... The
next shop had some really good, cheaper, items and I tried not to laugh
when the owner gave me a massive discount 30yen!! (yes thirty yen) Domo
arigato gozaimasu.
Very importantly, I found a very good
beer restaurant which serves 5 kind of their home made / original draft
beer. Everything were very cold and fizzy and taste excellent and I wish I could
visit this restaurant every week..... you can click here to see the menu in Japanese!

My shipment will be arriving in the UK next week so keep your eyes on my latest arrivals page ...

Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Fri 11th May '07 11:50 (GMT) Edited Fri 11th May '07 11:52 (GMT) Edited 2 times 18 til I die..... Just a quick note from me today as I am preparing to fly out to Houston, Texas tomorrow to view a HUGE collection of sealed LPs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. If all goes to plan they should be arriving at the UK office on Friday 18th May so keep an eye out for those if you like your vinyl super clean and minty fresh!
Before my whistle-stop trip to Texas I am off to see the Canadian rocker
Bryan Adams tonight - though it's no longer fashionable to admit to liking him, he still puts on a great show and plays all the hits and lets face it there aren't too many artists around that have spent 16 weeks at the top of the UK charts (even if it was with one of the cheesiest songs ever!) I'm sure it will be a great night - I may even review it on my return!

Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 10th May '07 16:33 (GMT) Edited Fri 11th May '07 17:22 (GMT) Edited 3 times SIMPLY UNBELIEVABLE!!! Wow this is an heavyweight item [And I mean really heavy at 70+ Kilo] try this fantastic KEITH MOON National Cash Register which has been reworked and is constructed in solid brass, manufactured by the National Till Company, circa 1915. Keith bought this till from a local antique shop in Chertsey, England and placed it as pride of place in the bar room at his 'Tara' house. Tales of drunken debauched behaviour were legendary and this item even has a piece broken by the party man himnself Oliver Reed.
When we say you'll never see another - WE mean it!!!

Neal Handley-Sawer - Merchandise Buyer UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 10th May '07 09:49 (GMT)Saul Watson - Product Promotion UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 10th May '07 07:44 (GMT) Edited Thu 10th May '07 07:55 (GMT) Edited 3 times The Death Of The Cassette Eil.com the world's leading provider of rare music & music memorabilia was more than an interested listener when Curry's announced they will no longer be selling cassette tapes from the end of this year.
Robert Croydon co-founder of eil.com smiled when saying: "For anyone over the age of 35 the cassette tape was an integral part of growing up. Not simply as a way of listening to listen to music but also for the freedom it allowed you in making your own compilation tapes. Most often the hours they took to compile were a labour of love as the tapes destination was someone you admired. If you were tongue-tied then you let your tape do the talking for you".
In terms of the humble cassette sold on the high street these are still avidly hunted down by the collecting fraternity. Julian Thomas, Director of eil.com's acquistion department, added " our worldwide team of buyers are constantly searching for rare and hard to source cassettes for our collectors. As part of our commitment to being the largest single source of rare music collectables we currently have over 1000 rare & out of print cassettes on offer. All serious collectors will have cassettes in their collections and we are happy to try and help them track down these missing pieces for them".
In terms of the music collectables the tape has long held a place in the marketplace. Early reel-to-reel tapes have long held allure for the completist. Steve Borkowski senior buyer for eil.com "the early examples of studio recordings as opposed are extremely rare in that they were so few survived and are quite often unique recordings. He added eil.com have recently sourced some John Lennon interview reel-to-reel tapes that they believe to be one off recordings. We are researching their background currently but Lennon and Beatles collectors are hopefully going to be amazed. Watch this space!"
