Edward San Diego, CALIFORNIA USA Created Tue 24th Mar '09 23:44 (GMT) | | The George-Edwards Group Speaking for the Group, I would just like to thank our fans and Drag City Records (Chicago, USA) for keeping our music alive, since our recordings dating back to 1977. We hope you continue to enjoy our music. The original lps have been selling on ebay for over $400-we are very flattered! Please check out the Group's website at www.TheGeorgeEdwardsGroup.com Thanks again for all the support! We love hearing from our fans! ==Edward, San Diego, California | [reply to this topic] |
 | | | | | Re: THE GEORGE-EDWARDS GROUP 38:38 (2009 issue UK limited edition
14-track vinyl LP - If you've never heard of it before, that just means
it's rare, right? This makes The George-Edwards Group's '38:38' one
of the rarest private press albums of all time. '38:38' departs from the
norm of the genre: instead of a low-fi demo quality outing elevated
mainly by dealer hype, this album is a haunting piece of music that
offers an unusually highbrow take on the archetypal Midwestern rock
'n' roll existentialism usually addressed with a solid beat and sneering
vocal. Crafting their sound out of the many influences of the day,
Edward Balian and Ray George created pop music with acoustic
guitars and harmonies, heavily reverberant piano riffs, cold sheets of
synthesizer, bells and chimes. This release of '38:38' includes
never-seen-before art, photos and original liners, press releases &
notes, as well as a song from an equally rare 7" single not found on
the original LP pressing.) £ 12.99, US$ 21.69 View this product

pop Datchworth, Herts UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 24th Mar '09 14:36 (GMT) | | David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World I have what I believe to be a rare copy of the above. EIL says that it should have a white label but mine is pink/orange. Label Mercury, SR 61325, and everything else is as per EIL's description including the stamped matrices. Any info from anyone as to value would be appreciated as I am willing to sell.

RENMAN BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN USA Created Tue 17th Mar '09 15:20 (GMT) | | Bob Dylan - Desire S 86003 SO DO I. I HAD TO BUY A 2ND ONE THOUGH, YEARS AGO. I WORE THE FIRST ONE OUT. GREAT ALBUM, ESPECIALLY THE RIVARRA[SIC]CHICK ON THE VIOLIN. SHE GAVE DYLAN A NEW SOUND SORTA EASTERN EUROPEAN. ONE OF DYLAN'S SELF CREATED MYTHS WAS THAT HE JUST PICKED HER UP ON THE WAY TO THE STUDIO BECAUSE HE SAW HER CARRYING THE VIOLIN CASE WALKING DOWN THE STREET IN NEW YORK [I BELIEVE] AND WANTED TO TRY VIOLIN ON A COUPLE OF SONGS.....RIGHT | [reply to this topic] |

RENMAN BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN USA Created Tue 17th Mar '09 14:35 (GMT) Edited Tue 17th Mar '09 14:43 (GMT) Edited 2 times | | BOB DYLAN I AM A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN SINGER/SONGWRITER/GUITARIST. I BECAME A DYLAN FAN A LONG TIME AGO. I'VE SEEN HIM LIVE ABOUT 15 TIMES, HE HAS SUCKED ALL BUT THREE. I WENT TO A DYLAN CONCERT RECENTLY IN KALAMAZOO MI, HE CHANGED THE TEMPO AND MELODIES OF ALL HIS CLASSIC SONGS [I HAD TO LOOK AT THE SET LIST THE NEXT DAY TO FIND OUT WHAT "IT'S ALL OVER NOW BABY BLUE" WAS AND, I RECORDED THAT SONG A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND PLAYED IT OFTEN]. HE EVEN PLAYED "MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE" IN SOME SORTA REGAEE[SIC], SWING GROOVE. I HAVE TELL TALE SIGNS AND HIS VOICE IS LOW AND RASPY NOW, BUT HE SOUNDS GOOD. AT THIS CONCERT THE BAND DROWNED HIM OUT COMPLETELY. THE THREE GUITAR PLAYER'S DID NOT DO ONE SOLO, THEY WERE USELESS NOISE. HE STILL HAS THE SAME BASS PLAYER[HE'S GREAT] AND THE DRUMMER WAS EXCELLENT TOO, BUT WHAT GOOD IS DYLAN'S MUSIC WITHOUT HEARING THE LYRICS. NO ONE CARES IF HE CRACKLES, HELL IT'S BOB DYLAN. THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THE WAY HE CHANGED SO MANY OF HIS GREAT SONGS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I'VE HEARD HIM DO THIS. HE HAD A BIG MONITOR BESIDE HIMSELF, AND HIS TOY KEYBOARD, SO HE MUST CARE HOW HE'S SINGING. THE SOUND MAN WAS WORKING THE SHOW FROM THE SIDE OF THE STAGE, LIKE A MORON. HE KEPT RUNNING OUT FOR BEER. HE COULD NEVER WORK FOR ANYONE WHO GAVE ???? LIKE THAT. I'VE EXRERIENCED SOME PATHETIC SOUND MEN MYSELF, BUT NOTHING LIKE THIS. I THINK DYLAN SHOULD DEFINETLY KEEP PERFORMING, BUT HE NEEDS TO RE-GROUP HIS SHOW. PEOPLE PAY MONEY TO HEAR THE CLASSIC SONGS AT LEAST CLOSE TO THE WAY HE RECORDED THEM. IF BOB WANTS TO PLAY ROCKABILLY, SWING FINE. WRITE SOME NEW TUNES, IT AIN'T THAT HARD TO WRITE STUFF LIKE RAVE ON OR STOOD UP OR ANY OF THE OLD STYLE ROCKERS. SO MUCH FOR THE POET OF ROCK, HE'S GOT WRITER'S BLOCK. HIS GOAL WAS TO PASS ELVIS AND HE HAS ALREADY DONE THAT. NOW HIS GOAL SHOULD BE TO ENTERTAIN HIS FANS AND NOT HIMSELF. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR MCCARTNEY PLAY YESTERDAY LIKE "I SAW HER STANDING THERE". NOT TOO WELL. SO LONG FOR NOW , MICHAEL ANGELO | [reply to this topic] |

chinacat_uk Livingston, West Lothian UNITED KINGDOM Created Thu 12th Mar '09 08:00 (GMT) | | Jimi Hendrix Ltd Edition UK 12" LP Box Set Polydor 2625 040 Hi
I picked up a copy on e-bay a couple of years ago. The box exhibited it's age but all the vinyl albums hadn't been played. I got it for £120: mainly because there was someone else interested and I was determined not to let this one go.
record collector rare record price guide lists it as £75
As always the market will determine the price. Cheers

madmac Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan IRELAND (REPUBLIC OF) .gif) Created Tue 3rd Mar '09 23:09 (GMT) | | Question to EIL: Hi, Can you tell me please do the serial numbers on the spines of the CD covers begin with 88.or 33.please? Also can you tell me is the record company “FMR” or “WARNER” please? Thank you. The box set I am after must have the discs and CD’s starting with the serial numbers of “33”. So if the discs and CD’s start with “88” then I don’t want it as I already own this box set – I collect AC/DC. The reason I’m not asking about the barcode is because the same serial numbered barcode is on both sets of 33 & 88 discs. You do understand exactly what I’m asking you, yes? I know it sounds a bit geeky of me but please, humour me as it does make a big difference to me. Thank you so much. Can you please let me know ASAP? Thank you so much.
Regards, Neil McLaughlin
