The Official Andy Partridge Fuzzy Warbles Collector's Album is an absolutely must have item for all fans of the best pop group ever. Through a myriad of everything from completely arranged and produced gems, to more lets-see-what-I-can-make-of-amusing-sounds-with-my-new-guitar-or-studio-equipment-tracks, this collection is a brilliant and necessary side-order to the studio albums that xtc have been producing the last 30 years. It is especially interesting to follow a track from the initial acoustic guitar and stomp your foot recording, to a track that is all ready for the studio. Another interesting aspect are the songs where a part of a chorus or a verse exists as part of a completely different song, Goodbye Humanosaurus is a good example where lines from Then She Appeared suddenly emerge. There are two reasons why the collection isn't rated excellent, the first has to do with the number of tracks that are interesting enough, but fall in the second category I mentioned above. There are a bit to many of those. Secondly, the box set could be of a higher quality, and I would have preferred it if the CD covers for the warbles were different than the ones you can buy in stores one at the time. Collector's Album (2006 UK limited edition 9-CD album set featuring a
total of 191 tracks penned by one of the world's finest songwriters,
including previously unreleased recordings, alternative demo versions
of XTC favourites, out-takes, fan favourites from the archives & much
more.. plus 'Hinges' 9-track bonus disc, presented in a deluxe
hardback book style picture box with screen-printed plastic slipcase,
complete with sheet of stamps, deluxe booklet & individual sleeve for
each disc with liner notes written by the man himself. Apart from a little
faint wear to the clear slipcase, this example remains in a really nice
condition)
