![]() Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Friday 30 May 2008 Berlin...: A rather quirky item to highlight this week is the U2 Achtung Baby - Berlin Wall Fragment, of which only a 1000 pieces were manufactured.
I'll see if i can get some more of the wall when visiting in November for the Germany v England friendly...
Berlin has also got a very cool new railway station.
Peter Fenton - North American Office Thursday 29 May 2008 Space Children, Are There Any Others?: ![]() Hi Everyone. I'd like to think that my personal “Top-10 Albums” list is fairly eclectic. What you may not know is that the album NIGHTBIRDS by LaBELLE is near the top of my list, not simply because of its enduring smash single Lady Marmalade, but because it’s a crazy, soulful trip that is raw, gritty and hella funky. My mother bought the album upon its release in 1974, and it travelled with me to college and beyond. And now, after THIRTY-THREE YEARS, Patti LaBelle is reuniting with Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash for a new LaBelle album! They have turned to a combination of old and new to help them mastermind their return to the charts:

Saul Watson - Product Promotion Wednesday 28 May 2008 Lemmy THE MOVIE: A host of rock legends are to feature in a new documentary about the life of one of rock’s most colourful characters, Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister.
The movie, tentatively titled Lemmy, will feature contributions from rock legends Slash, Dave Grohl, Mick Jones, Alice Cooper and Steve Vai amongst others. One of the two directors, Greg Olliver says "Shooting Lemmy is like filming dangerous wildlife. He never does what you expect him to do, and he never does anything you want him to do. A lot of the coolest shots are shots we had to wait for four or five shows to go by before we could get them." The film is due in 2009 and will feature a host more rock superstars in the final cut. Click on the screen to see the brilliant teaser trailer.
Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer Friday 23 May 2008 Sealed US Vintage Vinyl....: I've just returned from the US where Peter and I attended the Austin record show. We purchased a considerable collection of original 1960's and 70's sealed vintage vinyl but such artists as The Stones, George Harrison, The Doors, The Who, Jimi Hendrix and The Yardbirds to name but a few. The majority of the stuff will be arriving in the UK towards the end of next week, however a dozen or so items will be on the website by the end of the day, so check my latest arrivals.
If you ever find yourself in Austin, Texas, both Peter and I heartily recommend Blacks BBQ, situated in Lockhart, just 30 minutes outside of Austin - it's a treat but vegetarians are not welcome - You've been warned!
Prior to my US trip I purchased a massive haul of 1980's and 1990's CD singles and albums. The collection comprises a very wide array of pop, dance, hip hop, RnB, soul, plus lots of deleted soundtrack CDs. There are over 2000 items so there will be something for everyone.
Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Tuesday 20 May 2008 Kiss, my arse...: Just in is a superb collection of limited edition Kiss picture disc items including albums & singles, imports and rarities.
Check them out quick cos there's generally only 1 copy of each available...
Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Friday 16 May 2008 Bonnie Scotland...: Everybodies favourites Scottish indie kings Belle & Sebastian released their debut album Tigermilk in 1996 and we have obtained a copy of the original Electric Honey label LP, of which only a 1000 copies were pressed!
Also in the news this week, Rangers fans caused havoc in the host city where they were playing whilst bidding to win a european trophy (just as they did in Barcelona back in 1972) while my favourite managerial incompetent, BA boss Willie Walsh at least had the grace to turn down his £700,000 bonus in the wake of the T5 fiasco, although he did come out with the following pearls of wisdom.
"I thought it would be inappropriate that I be paid a bonus". (Really?)
Mr Walsh said the upcoming period would be "very challenging". Wow, that bullsh*t management manual he got for Christmas has been given a hammering...

Saul Watson - Product Promotion Wednesday 14 May 2008 The Planet Still Rocks: Congratulations to our good friends over at Planet Rock for picking up Digital Station Of The Year award at this year's prestigious Sony Radio Awards. Described by the judges as "A station with extraordinary passion, knowledge, surprise and depth", Planet Rock beat off competition to take home the prize. And they had success in the other categories that they were nominated in, with a Bronze in the Multiplatform Award for their superb monthly artist minisites (for this months click here) and a Silver heading to Fish for The Music Broadcaster of the Year. It does beg the question of how a station which continues to trounce BBC 6 music, consistently increases its audience share, and has bee named station of the year again can be under the threat of closure!! Let's just hope that a certain curly haired guitar wizard manages to ride to the rescue.
Until then if you haven't already, check out planetrock.com and tell them we sent you. They go all the way to 11 you know.

Peter Fenton - North American Office Saturday 10 May 2008 Guys and Dolls '08: Hi Everyone. Time flies, and it seems I've not been to a decent concert since last summer -- that's nearly a year ago! As luck would have it, THREE of my favorite artists have announced upcoming tour dates in my fair city: HUMAN LEAGUE, DEAD OR ALIVE and MADONNA. Human League and Dead or Alive will perform courtesy of THE REGENERATION TOUR. I've seen Human League several times before -- always a solid show. But Dead or Alive...? I've supported PETE BURNS for over 20 years now, and I try not to miss an opportunity to see him on stage. I remember one year I went to see him in a small club on Haight Street in my hometown, San Francisco, and only around 30 fans turned out for the show. Pete was a little off his game that night, got through three songs, and fell off a chair he was using as a prop, and just like that the show was over. It was surreal, and yet somehow registered to me as high art! Pete has become somewhat of a work of art, himself, so I'll be looking forward to seeing him yet again -- this time in Las Vegas -- and with a crowd of thousands, rather than the more intimate venues of the past. I've seen MADONNA on every tour but the Virgin Tour (too many little girls were into her then!) You are virtually assured of a fantastic show when she rolls through your town for her STICKY & SWEET 2008 TOUR, but I must admit that her Las Vegas ticket prices are ridiculous. She'll be here on November 2nd, and I'm bracing for face-value ticket prices over $400 for anything but a nosebleed seat. It's clear that a lot of money goes into her stage production, but still... $400? Allow me to call to your attention a few items from the aforementioned artists. Check out this rare HUMAN LEAGUE AMERICAN BACK CATALOG CD SAMPLER from a few years back, and also this early DEAD OR ALIVE NUMBER ELEVEN 7" SINGLE from TWENTY-SEVEN years ago -- didn't I already say that time really flies?! And it's hard to single out just ONE cool Madonna item, so I'm going with TWO related Maddy items from 1990. First up is this authentic Disney MADONNA AS BREATHLESS MAHONEY DOLL from the Dick Tracy motion picture. We have one in stock, and perhaps you can pose it more provocatively than we have here!! Also check out this official MADONNA AS BREATHLESS MAHONEY WEDDING CAKE TOPPER -- I'm not kidding -- it's for real! Have a great week, everyone, and someone PLEASE tell A-HA that now they need to play a live date in Las Vegas, too!!
Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Friday 09 May 2008 Art...: I find, is usually a load of pretentious crap but the idea of the Ebbsfleet Landmark Project seems a good one to me and is not 10 minutes away from us here at EIL.
5 artists have been shortlisted to design a project to symbolise the new Ebbsfleet Valley development and the surrounding areas including the nearby Eurostar train station.
Obviously my idea of a scene showing a big fight between a load of illegal immigrants from Kosovo & some local chavs outside McDonalds in the pedestrianised Gravesend high street didn't get nominated, so i'm leaning towards Mark Wallinger's white horse (provided it is lit up at night) or the cubed tower from Daniel Buren, even if he is French (Europhobe, moi?).
Anyone else made their choice?
Not in the class of Antony Gormley's (who really is a truly talented artist) Angel of the North but should certainly become a talking point when it's finished sometime in 2010.
No contest for sporting event of the weekend - Let's hope the mighty Eagles can crush the Wurzels...

Saul Watson - Product Promotion Wednesday 07 May 2008 Exclusive Madonna Hard Candy Promo Gig.: Robin, our man South of The Border (that’s Mexico and not south of Glasgow) was lucky enough to win a photo competition run by the Official Madonna fan club. The competition was to take a photograph related to Hard Candy, her Madgenes would then pick her favourite 50 entrants and they would be invited to a special launch concert in New York City.
Below you will find Robin’s exclusive report of the show and a few pics he took along with of course the prize winning snap.
“We have just arrived from NY, Madonna concert was a very nice once in a lifetime experience!” After being officially notified on Sunday I was on the 'list' for Madonna tickets at Roseland Ballroom in NY (concert was on Wednesday), we got flights the very next day and arrived JFK late on Monday night.
Day 2- day of the concert - There were a hundred of fans that had been sleeping outside since Sunday night when Madonna announced she was going to give some extra tickets to the fans waiting in line.
The venue was a very small mini theatre near the corner of 52nd and Broadway. A number of passers-by were enquiring “Which Madonna was going to be playing at the small theatre?” I’m guessing they thought it was a tribute night. Anyway, we arrived at 6pm, got given our wristbands at 7pm, which allowed us to queue in a different line with another 50 or so people. By that time, that particular corner of Broadway was packed with a host of radio and TV stations transmitting live.
At 8pm the doors were swung open, some headed straight for the t-shirt stall, others stopped to get some beers in the bar, whilst my better half and I moved quickly and found ourselves right at front and centre.
The lights went out and the concert started at around 10pm. Madge only played 6 songs and it only lasted under an hour. We couldn't believe we were just few steps from Madonna.
We took LOTS of pictures and anyone interested can just drop me a line. At the very end of the concert they gave us a very nice individually numbered Roseland Ballroom promo tour poster as a memento.
Thanks Madonna, it truly was a once in a lifetime experience.

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Friday 02 May 2008 Sweet Madonna,,,: Blimey, i've only gone and struck lucky in the draw for the Radio 1 Big Weekend shindig at nearby Maidstone when her Royal Madgeness is performing. Result.
Wonder if they'll be giving away any of the promotional lollipops or sweetie packs that have been doing the rounds...
On to sporting matters and apart from the obvious (come on Palace), this weekend will see the climax of the World Snooker Championships and riveting stuff it's been as well, from the flawed genius that is Ronnie O'Sullivan to the spotty little herberts i've never heard of who barely look old enough to pick up a cue.
One of the few sports the UK is still any good at...
