Peter Fenton - North American Office Saturday 26 April 2008 Extra, Extra -- Read All About It: Hi Everyone. Remember all those music magazines from the '80s? Well, it turns out that not a lot of people held on to them, or kept them in good shape. Over time, their value has increased, and collectors everywhere are now seeking back issues they either missed, or perhaps issues that they cut up for scrap books or wall art. The walls of my dorm room in college supported many such magazine covers and clippings, though I won't admit to anything specific these days! Whether it's a set of SIX DURAN DURAN SMASH HITS MAGAZINE COVER ISSUES dating back OVER 25 YEARS or THE FIRST TEN ROLLING STONE MAGAZINES FEATURING U2 COVER STORIES, we aim to please! We've got A-HA's "TOUCHY" NUMBER ONE ISSUE from 20 years ago, WHAM! on TWO STAR HITS COVERS from 1985, and even SIMON LEBON'S "HUNKY" APPEARANCE ON THE FACE from 1984! For an extensive list of the memorabilia we have available, CLICK HERE FOR OUR COLLECTORS STORE LIST, which will point you to a comprehensive listing from one of our many top-selling artists, or CLICK HERE FOR OUR MEMORABILIA CATALOG, which will point you to everything we have in stock relating to your favorite artist, apart from actual recorded music. Have a great week, everyone!

Simon Wright - UK Chart Product & Imports Tuesday 22 April 2008 oi oi SAValOY...: SAVOY SONGBOOK VOL.1
2008 UK edition 24-track 2-CD album set comprising a 14-track collection of their greatest hits [spanning 1994 - 2004] plus a 10-track CD BONUS CD featuring newly reworked versions plus 3 previously unreleased recordings such, presented in a UK exclusive digipack picture sleeve. Norwegian band , Savoy are most likely to be relatively unknown to most people in the UK but one of their members is far from obscure: Paul Waaktaar-Savoy is the man responsible for young women fainting en masse in the late 80s and early 90s. He's a member of the global super-hit Scandinavian band A-ha and penned some of their biggest The Norwegian born songwriter's band are made up of his wife; American filmmaker Lauren Savoy [guitar and vocals], Frode Unneland [drums] and Paul himself who leads the band on vocals and guitar as well as composing the songs with his wife.
Savoy have always only been able to be a side project for Paul as the demands of recording and touring with a band like A-ha were always very restrictive. In fact Savoy have never actually been out on tour as they don't have the time. Despite this, the band enjoyed considerable success in their home country selling more than 300,000 records with a career that spans more than a decade. This new release is a collection of their best songs reworked, plus some new ones. Savoy will be playing the Royal Albert Hall on May 24th alongside a-ha band members Magne F and Morten Harket who will also play solo slots that night. ORDER your copy TODAY
Michael Cambridge - UK Northern Office Monday 21 April 2008 Lunatics Are Taking Over The Asylum: I have recently been catching up on the massive backlog of CD's to play, including gems from one of the most underated bands of the last 20 years Killing Joke with their 2008 remasters of classic albums. This along with constant favourites David Sylvian and trips down memory lane to my goth past with The Mission and Sisters Of Mercy keeps me from getting bored. Todays rant is those Eco-Fascists in local councils who prosecute householders up to £300 for leaving their plastic bin lids 6 inches open. With fly-tipping fines at £80 what message does that send - More and more we are being Governed by Morons!!.
Keep checking the site this week for my latest arrivals with a great array of rarities hitting the pages with a massive collection of CD singles and classic 12" vinyl together with box sets and memorabillia.
Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Monday 21 April 2008 Madonna fever...: On the very day of release for the '4 minutes' single from the brand new album 'Hard Candy', it's announced that Madonna, the Queen of Pop, is to headline the 2008 Radio 1 Big Weekend concerts in Maidstone, Kent, a mere half hour away from EIL Towers.
Maidstone won't know what's hit it - Whatever next, Led Zep to reform permanently and to start the world tour in some boozer in Tovil...

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Friday 18 April 2008 'I've got a feeling inside of me...': and it's the taste of a beer called 'New Rose', named after the debut single (and the FIRST UK punk single release, rock historians) of everybody's favourite punksters The Damned.
Brewed by the Hart Brewery up near Preston it's one of 3 special edition ales due in honour of the band, which sounds pretty cool to me. Burp!
This weekends sporting highlight is the under-rated Joe Calzaghe's attempt to maintain his unbeaten record over in Las Vegas against Bernard Hopkins.
This is the same Hopkins who is so proud of his "never to lose to a white boy" quote, he used it 5 times in one press conference.
Obviously it's ok to make racist comments if you're black. Imagine the furore if Calzaghe or anyone else used such language about Hopkins. Certain people wouldn't be able to contain their political correctness...
Lets hope Welsh 'white boy' Calzaghe beats the hell out of the former middleweight world champion/armed robber.
It's on Setanta at some ungodly hour on Sunday morning if you can stay up...
Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer Friday 18 April 2008 More Beatles.....: I know that I said in my previous entry that I'd be highlighting items I bought in Utrecht over the next few entries, however I must tell you about a collection of Beatles LP's I picked up a couple of days ago - Every single item in the collection was in absolutely pristine condition. It looked like the previous owner had purchased each of the 150 items from new, played it a couple of times, then placed it away in a protective plastic sleeve and stored it away until now. The collection comprises of every UK 60's album, some mono, many stereo, plus all 70's and 80's releases such as Love Songs and Rock N Roll Music. In addition there is every solo album by John, Paul, George and Ringo plus some associated recordings such as Travelling Wilburys LPs. Also included in the collection is every 12" single release from Paul McCartney plus selected releases from George and John. There are also a couple of non-UK releases included in the collection, these too are in perfect condition.
I have many favourite pieces in the collection - after all it's not every day you find a mint condition Temporary Secretary 12" from 1980, but the two items that stick out for me are the soundtrack LP for the movie The Family Way featuring music by Paul McCartney of course in perfect mint condition and the Danish only compilation album form 1965 entitled The Beatles Hottest Hits with the legendary 'Eskimo' picture sleeve. Research tells me that they made fewer than 3000 copies of this album 40+ years ago so I imagine there aren't too many mint copies (like this one) floating around!
I'll be highlighting more Utrecht goodies next week or check my latest arrivals if you can't wait.....

Stephen Borkowski - UK Buyer Tuesday 15 April 2008 Ultimate Pink Floyd Rarity?: I've just returned from the Utrecht mega fair with some outstanding items from artists such as David Bowie, The Beatles, The Stones and many more. The first item I'd like to bring to your attention is an album by Pink Floyd, not just any album but my personal favourite Dark Side Of The Moon - What's so special about that you ask? Well, this issue was manufactured in Japan and was due to be exclusively distributed by a mail order record club, however it was withdrawn at the last minute as permission for the cover artwork - a picture of the band performing live during the 'Animals' tour was not sought or given. Very few copies of this now legendary album have ever surfaced, even in Japan. In the 20 years we've been in business, with a buyer constantly hunting all corners of Japan for hidden rarities, this is only the SECOND copy we've ever seen - in any condition! There is a very detailed description of the album and the history behind it here, along with some cool pictures.
In my opinion this is quite probably the rarest Pink Floyd album on the planet, feel free to email me if you know of a rarer Floyd item, steve@991.com. Oh and I'll be highlighting quite a few rare items on my blog over the next few days so keep checking back.....

Saul Watson - Product Promotion Monday 14 April 2008 WORST BAND EVER: Our friends over at Classic Rock magazine have bought this little gem to the world's attention. Possibly THE worst cover of a song we have ever heard. If you can think of anything that beats it please let us know. Snap them up quick kids, they won't be around for long...
On to this weeks sporting highlights and i watched the first round of the US Masters golf into the early hours on the BBC last night and good stuff it was too, with the English contingent leading the way.
Not only did Ian Poulter get a rare hole-in-one but Justin Rose is joint top of the leaderboard with Lee Westwood joint 3rd. That can't last can it...
Don't play golf myself and i don't understand why people go to watch it live when you see so much more on the excellent tv coverage, but enthralling stuff nevertheless.

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Monday 07 April 2008 Predictions...: Just call me Nostradamus - Picked the winner of the National at 9-1, the snow certainly came down and settled in my part of Kent yesterday and the P&TTB gig was in a very dubious pub in a very scuzzy part of South London.
At least the motor was still there when we came out.
I also forecast more idiots on the TV talking rubbish about global warming, the 'credit crunch' and other assorted news stories where they've jumped on the latest bandwagon, like the 'drought' we were all going to suffer from a couple of years back.
Funny how these incredibly clever broadcasters never seem to talk about such events BEFORE they happen...
Richard Austin - UK Office Friday 04 April 2008 Hello, Hello, Good To Be Back: Fresh from my medicinal malaise enforced holiday, I return to say diddly squat about anything. Before you all breathe a collective sigh of relief, I will however point out that the normally infallible Mr Evetts has neglected to mention the Bahrain Grand Prix, which also takes place this weekend.
If we can overlook certain lurid tabloid headlines, it promises to be a good race.
Any suggestions of a potential career path from the FIA to TV Evangelist will be greeted with stony silence.
Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Friday 04 April 2008 The weekend cometh (and the snow...?): A weekend of top quality sport to watch including the Grand National, the Amir Khan fight & the FA Cup semi-finals with the gig of the weekend being the legendary Peter & The Test Tube Babies at a dubious boozer The Dirty South in a suitably scuzzy part of Sarf London.
Be there or er... save your car getting pinched from the surrounding side-streets.
Keep wrapped up warm kids - It's going to be chilly outside!
Saul Watson - Product Promotion Friday 04 April 2008 Mass Debate: Classic Rock Magazine has compiled a list of the 50 best live acts of all time. The list, which was topped (if not unsurprisingly) by Led Zeppelin was voted for by a mixture of 128 journalists, rock stars and other music luminaries. The current issue is out now and is well worth a read - plus you can find out how Fugazi made number 30 on the list. See the full list here but in the meantime what do you think?
Saul Watson - Product Promotion Friday 04 April 2008 Planet Rock News:: The Who Prep Covers Record: The Who’s current producer, T Bone Burnett, has revealed that the band are working on an album of vintage R&B covers. It was revealed earlier in the year that the band would be starting work on their new album later in 2008, with Pete Townsend mysteriously adding the proviso that he wouldn’t be writing all the songs. Well, now that mystery is solved after Burnett told Rolling Stone magazine that the duo will be recording an album of material based upon songs that they performed early on in their career. Burnett said “We’re digging through lots of material and seeing what will work. There’s an incredible treasury of songs in the mode of what they used to play. Not ‘Heat Wave’ [an early favourite of the band], but ones that people probably haven’t heard of.” Townsend, Daltrey and Burnett are due to convene in London in the winter to start recording the record. First Young Support Act Confirmed: Neil Young has confirmed the first support act for his Hop Farm gig in July. Primal Scream will take to the stage on 6 July, prior to the man himself playing his only scheduled festival appearance of the year. More support acts are due to appear at the unbranded event and we’ll confirm these when they’re announced. The Hop Farm Country Park is a popular tourist attraction in Kent, but for one day in July will attempt in some way to reclaim the hippy ethos with an unbranded & unsponsored day of music. According to the press for the event, there’s no registration or VIP area so everyone has the same experience and no one is treated any better than anyone else. You can get tickets by heading to the link here. This one Zep O2 DVD Remote Possibility: If the will-they-won’t-they-tour saga isn’t enough for you, then how’s a will-they-won’t-they-release O2-DVD saga as well? It was widely expected that following the triumphant show at the London venue last December, the band would release the DVD and donate money from sales to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund – the charity for which they reformed. However, it seems that there is some doubt as to whether the will actually see the light of day. Jimmy Page told Uncut Magazine “It was recorded, but we didn’t go in with the express purpose of making a DVD. We haven’t seen the images or investigated the multi-tracks. It’s feasible that it might come out at some distant point, but it’ll be a massive job to embark on.” Our money says that the “massive job” will be completed just before Christmas… Radio Station Foos Prank Backfires: A New Zealand radio station’s April Fools Day prank backfired badly yesterday, costing several employees their jobs. Kiwi station, The Rock announced a free “secret gig” by the Foo Fighters at a power station in Auckland. Only there was no gig. The intention was that people would turn up and the station would then play a Foos album on a portable hi-fi. Apparently hilarity was going to ensue at this point. They had expected around 50 people to turn up to see the multi-platinum band perform, but instead the station was inundated with interest. And when thousands of people started to book flights and take time off work they had no choice but to admit the joke. The Rock’s Programme Director issued the following statement: “I arrived back in the country after a week long holiday and heard of the announcement on The Rock that the Foo Fighters are playing in Auckland. This is an April Fools gag, dreamed up by our over enthusiastic promotions department and completely untrue… Contracts have been terminated, and heads have rolled. This is what happens when fools plan April Fools jokes.”

Mark Evetts - UK Buyer Tuesday 01 April 2008 No joke...: Well it may be April Fools Day but the real joke is still at Heathrow T5 - how long to build and how many billions of pounds spent? I can feel the statements involving the word 'robust' about to go into overdrive.
Never mind Willie Walsh, trot out the excuses and take your bonus eh. Useless.
I think i would trust flying penguins rather than you...
