The Top Of The Pops Awards 2002 were held in the Manchester Evening News Arena on Friday 29th November, 2002. On the night thousands of lucky music mad fans saw Kylie, Will & Gareth, Ms. Dynamite, Craig David and Moby perform plus lots of famous peeps giving out the awards.

The awards are voted for by the many millions of viewers, and readers, of Top Of The Pops.

Top Pop Act

The winners in 2001 were Westlife. They beat the fab female nominees of Atomic Kitten, Britney, Kylie and Madonna. Who was this year's victor then...

Top R&B Act

R&B has been the biggest music trend in 2002 and dominated the nominations. Last year it was Destiny's Child, topping Craig David, Shaggy, Usher and Wyclef.

Between them they have armfuls of awards but just one of the nominees was lucky...


	MS. DYNAMITE ...it's been a great year for UK R&B's new star, awards, super concerts, single hits...

Top Rock Act

Perhaps last year's winners of Top Rock Act, U2, will pick up another award but wasn't this one again.

Battling it out were Oasis and Coldplay for the UK, the Red Hot Chilis, Puddle Of Mudd and Nickelback for the USA. Home town boys were the winners, with the Manchester boys beating off the southerners.


	OASIS ..if they can just stay friends then Oasis look like being the UKs BIGGEST band again

Top Dance Act

It was Mr. Fatboy Slim who was the champion last year and although he had a great year with enormous gigs in Japan and Brighton it was the turn of some new faces.

Top Newcomer

2002 saw the death of Hearsay but it was the Pop Idols who truly blossomed this year.

Top Single

No-one could disagree with Kylie picking up this award last year for the oh-too-catchy 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head'. However this year's choices, which are no less catchy, were harder to choose from.

The Top Of The Pops Awards also have some extra special selections that they make each year.

The Top Tour of the year is voted upon by all of those lucky people who attended some of the awesome gigs that have graced the UK in 2002. Perhaps this year you saw Enrique's 'One Night Stand' tour or Slipknot but I doubt you saw both though !!

Last year's winner Kylie was victorious again. She has been wowing the globe on the 'Fever 2002' tour and she scooped this year's Top Tour award.

The Top Website of the year was voted upon by all of the Top Of The Pops website users. The winning site was the UnOfficial Darren Hayes.

The final award of the evenings ceremony was the Hall Of Fame Award. Last year Sir Paul McCartney was the debut entrant. And in 2002 he was joined by another sir, Sir Elton John.
