The Kylie Minogue Complete Catalogue
EIL.COMs Kylie Minogue Beginners Guide

If you are new to collecting Kylie then EIL is here to help you. We have put together a simple guide on 'How To Buy', and a handy list of cheap and easy to get collectables.

Although she has only had a career of less than a decade certain Kylie albums are difficult to pick up in an average store or site. Her earliest albums on PWL are no longer in print, and the singles from around that time are much sought after. So to begin your Kylie collection we recommend that you start at the beginning. Try to find early singles, get one of her first albums that we have in stock or maybe one of the 'Best Ofs'.

Begin your Kylie collection here...And then follow the links within our biography below. Here you can see alternate versions of singles and albums, such as worldwide editions and deleted releases.

· 'Enjoy Yourself' - 1989 UK limited LP...Rare version of second album   more info
· 'The Locomotion' - 1988 UK 12" ...b/w I'll Still Be Loving You, pic sleeve   more info
· 'Hits +' - 2000 UK CD album ...her hits from 94 - 98 on Deconstruction  more info

Collecting a band or artist that are still busy releasing lots of new CDs, Singles or Videos etc. is a great way to be expanding any size of record collection. Kylie is all over the news on a daily basis, but when her last album Fever was released it was a collectors dream. So the next stage in any budding Kylie collection is to find the latest releases.

The most recent Kylie Minogue album, 'Fever', was released in 2001 in the UK. There have been a variety of great international editions; both the US and Japanese versions have added extras.

· 'Fever' - 2001 UK 12-track CD album...now available at great price ! more info
· 'Fever' - 2002 Japanese edition ...features bonus tracks & CD-Roms   more info
· 'Fever' - 2001 US limited CD ..includes bonus tracks and new sleeve   more info

A lot of new singles or albums today have differing picture sleeves or exclusive remixes, which are intended to create that desire to have a full set. The price of the limited versions is always likely to rise because there will only be thousands, maybe hundreds of them in existence. Kylie is a regular at this practice! Some of her most collectable rarities are these limited versions. Take a look at the 'Top Kylie Rarities And Collectables' on this page to see just how collectable limited releases can become.

Here are just a few fab Kylie Minogue limited editions which a new collector should possess.

· 'Spinning Around' - 2000 UK 2-CD set...complete set inc. limited cd   more info
· 'Love At First Sight' - 2002 UK limited 2-CD set ..complete set   more info
· 'Light Years/Tour Edition' - 2001 UK 2-CD set ..tie-in with 2001 tour   more info

Promos are another great area of music collecting that is easy to get started with. A promotional item can be a simple CD with no more than the music. But often they too will have exclusive sleeves and alternate mixes or even free gifts to make sure that the intended party (usually radio DJs,journalists or television promoters) remembers the song !!  Getting a radio station, or journalist, to promote a new song is one talent that most record companies have still yet to master. Many alternate formats exist for each new release; ie. there could be CDs or 12" vinyls with new mixes for club DJs and more eye-catching editions for journalists or record company employees. Due to this exclusivity a promo's price can change rapidly. EIL.COM is the place to pick up a promo before it becomes like golddust, or is lost in a bin !

Here are some great Kylie Minogue promos that we have in stock.

· 'Fever' - Balloons ...Pair of 2002 official EMI promo balloons   more info
· 'Whenever You Feel Like It' - 2002 US promo Scooby Doo OST   more info
· 'Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head' - 2002 US promo 12" more info

Serious collectors are always looking for 'One-Offs'. These can be anything from competition prizes, mispressed releases, hidden collaborations or secret releases. Once you begin to collect an artist seriously then this is one area of collecting that can bring the greatest satisfaction, and frustration! Kylie is a fab artist to pick up one-off rarities. She has such a strong visual image that her publicity material and memorabilia is highly collectable. The best way to do this is just to be a FAN!  Join the fanclub, attend the concerts, pester shops for displays, enter competitions and soon you will have a good selection of Kylie memorabilia or one-offs. Keeping track of a bands activities or news is something that most fans do but if you want to build a collection then this is almost vital. Shopping at EIL.COM means that fans and collectors can find thousands of one-off collectables from many bands. If you collect as a hobby then you could be dealing with our buyers in the ever expanding, frustratingly satisfying world of record collecting ! !

Cant Get You Out Of My Head Kylie - Enjoy Yourself and Poster

EIL.COMs Kylie Minogue Collectors Guide

Collecting an artist like Kylie Minogue is not as easy as it may seem. She is not the typical 'pop' singer. She has clear control of her image and her style. This is apparent both in the packaging or look of her releases, but also in the remixes and collaborations that she undertakes. Take a look at any of the EIL.COM affiliates or fan-sites listed below, they will help you in furthering your Kylie collection. There are full discographies, fan collections, rare release guides, newsletters and much more to help any collector.

Since EIL.COM began we have dealt in hundreds of thousands of Kylie Minogue rarities, in fact she is always one of our top selling artists. So for the more selective and discerning 'Minogue Maniac' here are some of the most exclusive items that you all search for ! ! Not all of the pieces are in stock at the moment, but they have been at one time. Our buyers often still find them so try requesting the next available copy if you need to complete your collection.

Certain factors dictate why an item is a collectable. This can be it's rarity (ie. how many are in existence), the peculiarity of the piece or sometimes the age. The most desirable item on our Kylie collectables list is a combination of these factors. When she joined DeConstruction in 1994 the company produced a 'coffee-table book' of Kylie pictures. The book was limited to only 500 and was stunningly packaged in a hard back, ribbon bound, boxed set. The book is collectable in any condition but to find a perfect, totally intact copy is quite uncommon.

The publicity machine at record companies can take over in the desire to sell their artist and they create some curious collectables. With any Kylie album there are always a wide variety of great promotional items. They can be as cool as the 'Fever' jewellery or 'Spinning Around' postcard set. But also promotional mixes like the 'Special K' 12" or other singles are equally sought after. Check our Customised Lists for many more fab Kylie promos and memorabilia.

Kylie is a globally successful artist. In some countries, such as the UK, Japan and Australia, her profile is huge. Whereas in Europe and the USA, while still a hit, she is promoted in a different way. This has led to worldwide editions of albums, promos and singles becoming desirable to any Kylie collector. The track 'Butterfly' was only officially released as a single in the USA and 'Your Disco Needs You' was an exclusive German release. The 'Impossible Princess' album was withdrawn and renamed in the UK but in Japan they were lucky to have it in it's original format and the promo version is highly sought after. More international releases are highlighted in our Customised Lists.

No Kylie collection would be complete without some version, of the hundreds in existence, of her smash hit 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head'. The french promotional CD is beautifully packaged and being a promo is very collectable. A performance of the song at the 2002 Brit Awards led to another wave of collectables being released. At the ceremony Kylie mixed her song with the classic backing for 'Blue Monday' by New Order. Bootlegs soon surfaced of the performance but the DJ 12"s which were officially released are great rarities. Finally, with a nod to her pop past, there are jukebox 7" singles of the song which although intended for jukebox systems are wanted by any Kylie fan too.

The final piece in our list is possibly the rarest collaboration that Kylie has undertaken. The song 'G.B.I.' or 'German Bold Italic' was recorded with dance producer Towa Tei of Dee-lite. The song was released as a single but it is the club mixes that are the rarest. It doesn't appear on any Kylie album either so even a normal version of the track is a collectable.

The Locomotion Kylie - Confide In Me

EIL.COMs Kylie Minogue Biography

>>>  JUST CLICK ON THE LINKS IN THE BIOGRAPHY TO SEE SPECIFIC CATALOGUES<<<

Kylie Minogue was born on the 28th May 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. She began a career in the media at a young age, starring in a handful of soap operas before coming to national recognition in Australia, and internationally, with her role as Charlene in the series Neighbours, which spawned the career of Natalie Imbruglia as well. Neighbours was a huge success in her homeland bringing Kylie many awards but also it was the beginning of her music career.

In 1987 on the basis of her Neighbours popularity, Kylie agreed to perform at a charity gala in Australia. The song she sang was Little Eva’s 'Loco-Motion' and although they thought little of her talents Mushroom Records saw the potential in a TV star releasing a song. By July of that year the song was an Australian #1. Neighbours had begun showing in the UK at this time too and a partnership between Mushroom and the English label PWL, run by the genius’ of Stock Aitken and Waterman, found Kylie in England to try her new pop career on the British public.

With PWL’s pop knowledge and Kylies popular image a UK career began as famously as her Australian. The first single, released in 1988, was I Should Be So Lucky and it gave her another #1 down under but also began Kylie’s string of hit UK singles. As was their way, Stock Aitken and Waterman wrote and produced her records and they controlled her image of the girl next door. I Should… was followed in 1988 and 1989 by the chart-topping infectious tunes Got To Be Certain, Je Ne Sais Pas Pour Qui, Hand On Your Heart, Wouldn't Change A Thing, and Never Too Late. A duet with her Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan called Especially For You was another #1 hit and along with the success of her self-titled debut album, its follow up Enjoy Yourself plus some video collections, saw Kylie end the decade as one of the worlds biggest stars (if only in hit status!)

The 1990s saw the cute Kylie alter to a more raunchy style and this new image simply made her a bigger star. Better The Devil You Know was the first of many Kylie controlled singles and her next albums Rhythm Of Love (1990) and Let's Go To It (1991) included more of her own input. The first collection of Kylie hits, which was cleverly called Kylie's Greatest Hits, was released by PWL in 1992.

After five years with PWL in 1994 Kylie left to join the more dance orientated label Deconstruction with whom she released six singles and the smash hit albums Kylie Minogue and Impossible Princess. The Impossible Princess album was hastily renamed and repackaged at the time due to concerns about Princess Diana's death. While this period was a critically appreciated shift in Kylie's sound it was not as successful in terms of hits. Only Confide In Me found a place in the UK Top Ten. One aspect of the ‘new’ Kylie was her collaborations, which leant more indie and dance kudos to her profile. She worked with the Manic Street Preachers, Pet Shop Boys and Brothers In Rhythm during this time. Her most peculiar duet was Where The Wild Roses Grow, a "murder ballad" with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds. The track featured on Nick’s 'Murder Ballads' album and was released internationally in 1995 becoming her 25th consecutive hit, peaking at No. 2 in Australia and 11 in the UK. Recent collaborations include the dance track G.B.I. recorded with Towa Tei (of Dee-lite fame), a duet with Ben Lee on The Reflex for a Duran-Duran tribute album, and the famous duet with Robbie Williams, Kids.

Another change of record companies to Parlophone was finalised in 1999. Then the following year the single Spinning Around was her next UK #1 and signalled a return to her pop icon status. Spinning Around also gave Kylie the honour of being one of only two artists (the other being Madonna) to have a number one in the eighties, nineties and noughties! In September 2000, Kylie released the follow up single, On A Night Like This. Kylies most anticipated album yet, Light Years, was released at the same time to massive critical & commercial success debuting at #2 in the U.K. and reaching double platinum sales in Australia.

In 2000 Australia hosted the Olympic games and at the closing ceremony Kylie sang to a global audience of over 4 million people ! Her own concert tours at the time may not have had such huge audiences but every one was a sold-out success.

Her reign in music continued into 2001. The Fever album was released in October on the heels of the successful single Can't Get You Out of My Head. The song became an global smash, earning Kylie two Brit Awards in February 2002. Shortly thereafter, Fever was released in the U.S., landing her her biggest hit with Can't Get You Out of My Head in nearly fifteen years.

Like Madonna, Kylie has ridden commercial and critical success’, she has developed a new image to suit her music and like Madonna she is one of todays greatest female pop stars; the princess to Madonnas queen.
