Did you Boogie-Oogie-Oogie?
There was so much good music in the 1970s everyone collected records.
This is EIL.COM’s guide to the artists that soundtracked the era.
Record collecting, as we know it, really started in the 1970s. Stemming from their youthful love of Fifties era music, a whole generation began to 'search' out lost songs and forgotten classic records.
Specialist shops soon opened as collecting fever spread. Soon it was including the music of the day; be it heavy rock, rare soul, jazz or whatever. The 'need' to find certain editions, or to complete collections gave rise to the pleasure that we all enjoy today!
The Seventies were a great era to be a music fan, and especialy to begin record collecting. Disco fans searched for rare and exclusive 12" mixes. A Punk fan could collect powerful 7" vinyl classics from the many groups of that era. Just take a look at the classic picture sleeves that are on this page. These bands or artists created definitive LPs that we now glorify ! !
We have dedicated list pages for all the 70s artists, plus genres such as Punk, Disco and Glam. You can search for artists such as T Rex, James Taylor, Chic, Sex Pistols, and Eagles. Each artist or group has easily searchable stock pages, or you can use the extended search facility to track down more specific items. There are collectable CDs, vinyl, deleted rarities and lots of artist memorabilia too
